Donna Meiss

I earned my AS in Child Development at Columbia College, so that makes me a fellow Claim Jumper! I earned my bachelor's degree in social science with an emphasis in psychology from Chapman University and my master's degree in early childhood education from the University of  Phoenix. I also  have a multiple subject teaching credential and a program director Children's Center Permit.

I began by teaching Creative Activities in the Arts at Columbia College  in 2001. As an adjunct (part time)  instructor, I teach classes wherever I am needed. These classes have included: Books for Young Children, Implementing Curriculum, Introduction to Curriculum, Child Health and Safety, Child Family and Community, Work Experience, Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children, Guiding Children's Social Development, Adult Supervision Practicum and Infant/Toddler and Preschool Practicum.

In June of 2019 I retired from my full time job working for the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office. My responsibilities there, as the Social Emotional Learning Foundations program coordinator,  included coaching and mentoring early childhood teachers, providing and/or coordinating professional development  opportunities and supporting teachers with social emotional strategies to use in their classrooms or family child care homes. Currently I serve on the board of directors for our local child care resource and referral agency, Infant Child Enrichment Services.

In my spare time, I love being with my family, gardening, hand sewing and putting together jigsaw puzzles.  I look forward to seeing you in class!
