About

I joined the Academic Counseling team in August, 2017.  I really enjoy working with students individually on their academic goals as well as teaching in the classroom. I teach Guide 18 (Life Skills for Higher Education), Guide 1 (Career and Life Planning), Guide 8 (Introduction to College) and/or Guide 50 (Guidance for Nursing Majors). I am also an instructor for the UC Davis Northern Training Academy and teach a variety of courses to social workers in Northern and Central California. I recently earned academic units in an Adult Learning Disabilities graduate certificate program through Sacramento State University College of Continuing Education.

Before Academic Counseling, I was the program specialist for the Foster and Kinship Care Education Program where I wrote curriculum and taught courses to foster parents and relative caregivers of children in foster care.  I served as a social worker for Adult, Child and Family Services in Tuolumne County for nearly 12 years.  Before moving to California, I was the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Coordinator at Florida International University.  I grew up in Indiana and earned my Bachelor and Master's degrees in Ohio (ask me about the culture of mid-west barbecues!).
