About

I am involved in the three M's...not necessarily in this order...Mathematics, Motorcycles, and Mountains.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and upon graduation from high school (two weeks later) I joined the United State Air Force.  I was a B-52 aerial gunner and an academic instructor in aerial gunnery and professional military education.
After the USAF, I went back to college and earned a Mathematics degree from Merced College (AA) and CSU Stanislaus (BA) and a Mathematics Education degree from Fresno Pacific (MA).
I taught high school in Turlock for 9 years, taught mathematics at Merced College for 9 years and now, well you know where I'm at:)
I have three children, one works as an engineer, one works for Vituity in SF, one is a flight engineer in the USAF.
I love to climb anything that goes up...so Kilimanjaro, 49 state highpoints, 660 county highpoints...and many other assorted peaks...about 5000+ in all.
I do like to ride motorcycles and have done some extreme rides...Canada to Mexico in 22 hours...Pacific Ocean to Atlantic Ocean in 49 hours...Oklahoma City to Atwater in 23 hours.
I do try to combine the M's, for instance, take someone from my family on my motorcycle to a trailhead and climb a mountain, computing the slope, distance, gain...etc.
Okay...it is obvious that I am crazy...maybe kicked in the head as a kid by a horse...who knows:)
